Can I use an airtight case?

Is it possible to reliably run a Pi in an airtight (watertight) case or is some form of ventilation required for cooling? I'm assuming it doesn't chuck out too much heat, but am wondering whether running it indefinitely this way may cause issues.

Raspberry Pi 3 vs Pi 2 power consumption and heat dissipation

I've seen the announcement of the new Raspberry 3 but didn't find any info regarding power consumption and heating. A 1.2 Ghz 64-bit CPU is great but does it draw a lot more power? Shall heat be an issue with small cases with the Rpi3? I've read…

What size screws does the Raspberry Pi board use?

On the model B+ there are four screws that can be used to attach your device either to a base or firmly inside of a case or other enclosure. What is the size of these screws? That is, if you are walking down the isle of a hardware store, what…

Is it possible to receive an electric shock by touching a Raspberry Pi while it's on?

This is a question of safety for children using the device while they are still being shipped without a case. The USB power source is expected to provide 5V and at least 700mA. Is this enough to give a shock? Do any components on the board step the…

Is it safe to operate on any dry surface?

The Raspberry Pi does not come with a case. Is it safe to rest the device on any dry surface during operation? For example, would it be safe to place a case-less Rasp Pi directly on the floor of a metal comms cabinet? Would resting the Rasp Pi upon…

Building a waterproof case

I'm tempted to use the Pi for controlling an autonomous robot that could be subjected to harsh conditions - mud, water, the lot. (It's theoretical at this point, but the concept remains the same!) Because of this I'd either like to build or buy…

How important is a case for the Pi? (And how to safely create my own?)

How vulnerable is the Raspberry Pi without a case? I've seen the many Lego cases which look great, but I'm constantly wondering what the risk of such a case is. Will a Lego case successfully protect the Pi just like a regular case will? And what is…

How do you attach the case fan on the Raspberry Pi 5?

I can see where I'm supposed to plug the fan cable but it's covered up and I'm scared to tug on it in case I break it. Is there some knack to opening it?

How do you protect the Raspberry Pi when you are carrying it about?

I am getting mine this week (or so I am told) and I am nervous about breaking it on the move since it looks so open and bare. How do you bring it around without breaking it? It has arrived. The packet says: This product should be placed on a…

How can I create a simple case?

How can I create a simple case for my Raspberry Pi? I don't need an airtight case; I'm looking for a simple and cheap case, just to be sure no one touches the circuit board.

What are the cooling requirements for Raspberry Pi 3?

The new Raspberry Pi 3 has been beefed up from the previous version. Now it comes with a Broadcom BCM2837, which is an ARM v8 quad-core Cortex-A53, clocked at 1.2GHz. I have also seen somewhere a recommendation for using a 2.5A power supply. Does…
