I've got an old book on the shelf from around 1995 that came with a CDROM from Slackware which contained Linux/GNU sources. I've been running Linux since that first compile finished. I switched to Ubuntu quite a number of years back because it was the first distro I found that supported a new piece of hardware I had just purchased.
